How can I alter an on-off switch on my Luxman?

I have a Luxman TP-114 preamp I want to use in the bedroom with a Pioneer timer to turn on and off.
However, the Luxman has one of those power buttons you push to turn on and push again to turn off rather than the kind that is either in or out for power on and off/
Any options how to change this or set it to always be on so it can be powered by my audio timer?

Thanks Mr. Pig for the effort!! I would do that if it worked. Thinking I need to jump a wire or somesuch behind the switch.
As you say, hopefully someone will know.
 
I'm not familiar with that amp, but I found a gut shot and it should be really easy to get in there and just jump the switch to make it always on. I can't find a picture of the back of the switch, but there is tons of room in there to get at it. If you can get a pic of the back of the switch some one can tell you which wires to connect. If it's just two wires, you can either de-solder them from the switch and connect them or adding a small bit of wire to connect the two terminals should do it. If there are multiple wires into the switch a picture of the back of the switch is needed. I'm sure there is someone who knows the switch who could answer without a picture, but as I said I'm unfamiliar with it.

It's a momentary switch right? There's clearly a main and sub transformer and you want to switch the other components via it's internal relay and sockets on the back? It's also a remote controlled unit, likely with a soft power on via the remote, and possibly rear 'remote/in/out' sockets on the back.

You could modify the circuit by installing a small value cap (22uF) over the DC switch contacts. It will act as a low impedance for a second until it charges, enough to trigger the soft-on function, depending on the time-on delay of the unit itself. You'd have to try it.

I'll have a look at the schematic if you like and report back.

This likely will not work. The uP scans the keys and will likely lock out a permanently-on switch or lockup altogether. If the circuit is similar to the TP-117, the PWR signal line to the micro is held at 5V via a high value resistor and is pulled down to 0V when pressing the power switch.

Without knowing this unit, it seems like you could just tack a jumper across wherever the power switch controls (perhaps not at the switch . Downstream of the relay).
Obviously the original power switch wouldn't function unless removed.

I think it sounds like a latching switch. Push in it latches (on), push in again, it unlatches (off). However, it could also be a relay coil latching switch. Push the switch and the coil to a relay latches the relay in the closed position, push the button again and power is removed from the coil and the relay opens. This is how the "red" emergency stops on industrial machines work.

To the OP, when you turn on the Luxman, do you hear a clicking sound that could be coming from a relay?
 
My point was a relay is a switch (controlled by a magnetic coil.)
At the end of the day a point makes (perhaps multiple points).
If I understand the OP correctly, he'd like the unit to stay in an on condition and the timer by way of the line cord, would act like a switch. Therefore going back to my first suggestion (which admittedly may not be practical for some reason) just jump contacts being made at the relay when unit is in the on position.
 
If its relay switched, maybe stub that out to a standard toggle on the back so it could be used in constant-on mode or in the stock configuration if you ever wanted to go back to that. Constant on mode would simply bridge the relay.
