How can I improve the bass a little ???

My homebrew corner speakers use EV T-35 high freq. drivers w/ EV 8HD mid horns and no name 15" woofers. The 3/4" plywood veneered cabs have a little bit of very thin fiberglass padding glued to the sides of the cabs and thats it. These are a very simple design w/ a slot type port and simple crossovers which include treb. and mid controls. I'm guessing these speakers were probably used in a small meeting hall or church.
The problem is the lack of bass. They do put out some bass but not nearly what one would expect from two 15" woofers. The bass from my CV DX7's (12") is far stronger than these 15s. Polarity seems OK and even cranking up the equalizer bass tabs only help a little
Is there any simple trick I might try to help the lower end out a bit, there is some bass just not enough to suit me. Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you calculate the volume needed for the 15" speakers?

My mistake I reread the post and see you are using cabinets from a PA?

Here is a pic of the woofers; anyone recognize them???

I agree- sounds like some more home work needs to be done as the woofer might not be right for the net volume at hand. FWIW Dayton does make a real nice aluminum cone 15" that does not need a large box to get into the mid/hi 300's!

Speaker technology has come a long way. You look at your numbers and you can get amazing results- provided the numbers let you- and I mean box calculations in conjuction with the woofer parameters working together!

The woofer looks like a newer model CTS 15"type- of which needs like 4.5~5+ cu ft to load right!

The cabs are 43" tall and 36" wide. 18" deep at deepest point. Seem like the volume should be fairly adequate??

I disagree about it being a K-33, it looks to me like the problem is that you have rotted surrounds!

More pics of woofer and crossover..

That first part of the number is 150. Maybe a Crescent? (of which I've never heard of) At least from looking at the speaker code website.

67 is the code for Eminence, so they could be close to K-33, but they do not have pleated cloth surrounds.

Like was mentioned from the get go. You HAVE to measure the speakers parameters, calculate a box and alignment and go from there. Might be as simple as sealing the cab or porting it different. I would think those could make some good bass. Looks like CTS woofers to me. Also with that XO and horns it might be the horns, being much more efficient, are overwhelming the bass side and under driving the bass while over driving the mid and top which will also make them sound very bass shy.

Those cab dimensions sound more than adequete for "good" bass. I think you should be looking into some crossovers to correct your problem. They sound like bass reflex cabs and with those drivers you should have no problem going "low".........:scratch2:

Can you muster up more pics of the cab inside and out ??

Here are a couple of exterior pics; will have to pull woofer to photo the interior but not much there other than the floor mounted crossover.
