how do i figure out 500-c channel volume discrepancies!!

thanks again for all the info, i'm glad to be here.

i just got some deoxit d100l, to start i want to keep it simple. should i use faderlube after the deoxit or does it really matter? also, if i clean switches on the marantz should i use the same stuff as i do on the fisher? i keep reading conflicting info throughout the audio karma forums.

i also went through my stuff and found another hh scott (299d i think) and a heathkit amp and an altec 75watt mono amp. when i figure out what i really need i'll probably sell about half of this stuff if anybody's interested (i'm gonna keep the marantz and probably 2 fishers) i'm in the los angeles area.

thanks again for all the replies!!!

you can use the deoxit on any of the unit's you've listed. Use sparingly. It's like Brylcreem...."A little Dab'll do ya." Definately use Faderlube or DeOxit Gold afterward. they replace the lubricant the D-100 or D5 washes out. CRC also makes a good lubricant for pot's and switches. IIRC it's CRC 3-3-2 lubricant. It's right next to the CRC QD Electronics cleaner in the electrical section at Home Depot.

Get a can of the QD Electronics cleaner also. Use this to FLUSH the TUNER Variable cap (under the case which you have to open up to sccess it). Do this after the DeOxit treatment as invariably with new users they have a tendency to spray all over the place and the tuning goes out of whack. This will help clean the fins and bring the tuning back to battery. Let this dry 1 day before trying FM/AM. Setting out in the sun will help speed up the drying.
