I have a pair of trio kenwood lsk-400Ds and a pair of smaller advents which one should i have put in my room i like how my advents sound but then my kenwoods have more bass but then when i turn my kenwoods up too loud with the bass on it makes a poping noise out of the woofers and my advents do not have that problem.

My reply may not be the one you want, but...

The one that is better is the one YOU prefer the sound of! This is your system so set it up to YOUR tastes. Doesn't matter which of the speaks any of us out here prefer in our system.

The noise you hear from the Kennys may be the woofer bottoming out? Reduce the bass to them, see if it goes away.

I agree with reyneman.Everybody hears different and wouldn't it be the pits if you put the crappy sounding one in the livingroom just cause someone said that they looked cool or they had a well known name. Let your ears tell you what you ask.

Are those "smaller advents" the Small Advent with the spitball wad dustcap?

If so, my money would be on them; they're a fine speaker which some like even better than the clasiic Large Advent.

But to each his own

more bass isn't always better bass. listen for detail and texture in the bass notes. perhaps the smaller advents with a sub could prove ideal.

or, if you really don't know, sell them all and get something you've been lusting after...

whats a spitwad dust cap is it on the woofers and it looks really messed up so they get better sound if so yes my advents do have that on them.

Jeff-Sounds like some arsewhole got to yr dustcaps & pushed them in, or otherwise effed w/them. If they're popping, & making a cracking noise, you're over-driving them, & could end up harming them. Again, back off the bass a tad, & turn 'em down a bit. -Sandy G.
