How do these tables stack up against my Dual 1019?

Dual 1019s are very good turntables. I don't see anything on that list which would blow it out of the water, though the Thorens and Kenwood are probably the strongest contenders. .

I think most of the United Audio plinths were not hinged. Some were but they were the plastic clip tab style so they basically propped up the dust cover vs a traditional hinge.

With the United Audio plinths you had to purchase the dust cover separately. I bought my 1019 from the original owner and it never had a dust cover.

Your plinth looks pretty nice. I would enjoy as is.

I had a 1019. Moved on to a Thorens 160 and then a Kenwood 500. If you want something different, the Thorens is going to have a contrasting soundstage to the dual. Better is way subjective. And "upgrade" is too.

Now I've got a different 1019 hooked up with a Strathclyde (similar to the Thorens) and a Sl-1200. Best of all worlds I suppose.

I will say, the second I sold my original 1019, I regretted it. Don't part with it if you enjoy it.

OP, you have one of the best US built Unitied Audio base offered. Sold top best looking. Can’t hinge it. Got it with a 1010S, a replica of my first Dual. Had a bread box plexiglass dust cover! Also the best one UA offered. The switched to acrylic plastic later. Put my 1019 on that nice base. Don’t need the cover as I have it in a enclosed cabinet. You write a book on bases that fit 1019s. Keep the 1019. Have 7 Duals all hooked up. Do a lot serious listening with my 1019. Got it for $20. Base needed help. Fixed and it went with another 1019. Have a 1009Sk in another system. The 1000 series DHal’s are keepers!

I bought a custom-made dust cover for my Dual 1219 from JnB on eBay. Just search for JnB Dust Cover and it will come up. The new cover looks great and was very carefully packed for shipping. No affiliation other than being a happy customer.

I own and rotate in and out of my system over a dozen turntables........ idler drive, belt drive and direct drive........ manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic........

they all have their charm

The best way to know if a turntable is good is to use it, then decide for yourself.

Thanks. I think the previous owner tried to polish the old dust cover with coarse sandpaper. Since I rarely use the multi-play spindle, I opted for the shorter version. I was really impressed by the great packing the company did, too.

If you have speakers that reach below 35 HZ, you will find the Technics to be much quieter with far less rumble. The Technics tables have better tone arms, too. I would want a manual version so I wouldn't have to deal with the semi-automatic tone arm functions that need to be serviced every other year by removing all the lubricants and cleaning all the gears, rotating and sliding parts and then re applying the proper lubricants. At least that is what we had to in our very dry and some times dirty climate from dust storms here in the Southwest of the US.
