How do you adjust capstan motor speed on the Nakamichi DR-10?

I just recently changed the capstan belt for the Nakamichi DR-10 now it is playing slow but still playable, I want to adjust speed back up to normal but I don't know how to adjust it.

There is a hole in the back of the capstan motor. Beneath that is a trimpot. You have to use an isolated screwdriver.

You can adjust by ear-and get close, or to be more accurate, you would need a frequency test tape and a frequency counter (some RMS multimeters have this function). I use a test tape sold by Duplicators CA (no affiliation). Google "Frequency Test cassette" and look for a link for them. This is not a full track tape, but for speed, it's adequate, and modest in cost.

I don't know why my motor is blocked by what it looks like a piece of foam, unlike yours.

The foam is there to keep dust out-just push through it-you should feel the tip of your driver hit the head with some pressure

I have no idea what screw it is, is it phillip head? or a flathead screw??

It is not screw, it is trimmer potentiometer. For small flat screwdriver. Just isolate screwdriver from shield or use ceramic screwdriver. Just google to see how it looks.
