How does the KT-5070/5077 cueing lever (vicious damper) operate?

Hi,
Now that I'm working on my Kenwood TTs, while I'm here might as well set everything up and make everything work properly. I have the KT-5070/5077 &5030 & 5060 service manuals and have read through them. One thing I do not see is how the cueing lever operates. I have the TT apart and can see the assembly yet still do not see exactly how it works. (Hard to operate upside down)

My question is basically:

Is it a lever and spring only?
Is it a lever and spring and vicious liquid filled tube?

I simply want to understand before taking it all apart.

Thanks

Although I have a 5070, I've never worked on it. However, based on illustrations in the 5070 Service Manual it appears that the lift mechanism of the 5070 is similar to that in the KD-3070 which I also have and have serviced. The following video shows how to service the lift mechanism in the 3070 and should help guide you.

Also, the service manual for the KD-3070 has better illustrations for the lift mechanism than the 5070 manual. The attached drawings may help.... Good luck!

ampman,

You may be wise to find an experienced technician to work on your turntable. It's pretty easy to create more problems than you solve.

Good luck.
