How does this Wharfedale W40 Speaker looks like on the inside?

Hello,
Still a beginner but this time trying to understand speakers and see if I can improve any of them. I have a pair of Wharfes that I got for 5 bucks and they sound great but I was wondering if these look fine or if something is missing or needs replacing. I would also love a description of what each parts are and do. I keep trying to read about these things but I'm still not learning fast. Won't give up though!

First don't mess with the whiteish dust on the metal that is cadmium dust and some here say it is nasty stuff.

Looks like you have a woofer, adjustable control for high frequency adjustment, an inductor and a capacitor. The tweeter is in a box to prevent the internal pressure from the woofer from affecting it. Just change the cap to new. Other threads say it is a 15µF 50V cap. Any 15µF bipolar of 50V or more is fine if you are going to update them.

I think that is a Super Three tweeter, which is a very nice tweeter, and because it is used in other Wharfedales, including their top models like the SFB and the hexagonal cabinet ones (Dovedales?) is sought after, even if it doesn't look all modern and techy. Some versions used a foam suspension that decays badly, but the one shown appears to be fine, so perhaps it is with the felt suspension. It is hard to tell what sort of suspension the woofers had, but if it was doped originally, you might need to renew the doping to seal them - I would use the stuff sold by vintage_ar even though it isn't cheap.
I've had a pair of similar Wharfedales, though I think they had the so called updated tweeter with the purple dome. I think you will find them nice speakers, but not as exciting and bright as modern ones - whether than is good or bad will depend on your taste and on what music you listen to.
