How may gigs of digital music do you have?

I'm pushing 300 gigs...

Just kind of curious of how many people are going digital over analog, and how far they are pushing it....

For various reasons, I have not gotten into the modern version of todays new technologies.
I guess i'm more "old school" in that respects.
Love my 20+ turntables and fairly large vinyl collection.

OTOH I do have about 400 cds', though that's about it, so in all regards, i'm not completely on the slow boat to China...as it were.

I'm still on this weak ass dial up, Webtv, and really haven't discovered the virtues of downloaded music, yet.
Time will tell.

OTOH, I did get my 15 year old daughter and IPod nano for christmas this last year.
She totally loves it, and i've supported her by at least getting her some decent headphones to listen through.

Seems like a fair comprimise.

Maybe, in a couple years, i'll reintroduce her to some of her own music (rap/R&BH) through an anologue format and see what she has to say.
Though...i'm skeptical of the results, myself.
I'll try to keep an open mind.
YMMV.

Very intersting... and I can understand your demise....

I really haven't been a big mp3 fan myself, however, once I started to realize how much stuff was out there, I started jumping on it pretty fast...

Before I knew what was really happening, I started buying... how do we say.... cool tunes on alll of the cool sites? damn.. wished I wasn't so blasted so I could explain it....

There is so much cool music out there, and I really wished the RIAA would understand out demise, instead of sueing us all for just trying to expand our horizons.....
 
iTunes reports:

1772 songs, 4 days, 13.96 GB.

Not everything I have "digitized" is loaded into the library, so the total is gonna be higher. I also recently went through and reduced the bitrate on everything I still have hard copies of - I don't use the digital for my primary source.
 
70gb and growing. Haven't started archiving 8-tracks, cassettes or LP's yet. Still buying new cds but they go immediately to hard drive.:smoke::smoke::smoke:
 
I'm at around 70 gb of music and that set of files is backed up twice to two different hard drives for a total of 210gb. I also have two copies to DVD which took days to complete. I have no idea how many files that is but it is a bunch. My main computer at work has 1 -120gb, 2 - 250gb, and 1 - 400gb and they are all almost full due to the movies and music. Even with all that space I still don't have my movies backed up because of the total size of the collection.
 
100 Gigs here, I`ve spent years converting my cd`s in 320q..mp3... now I`m wondering if perhaps it was STUPID not to use Flac..... today everything I do is Flac... because I CAN hear the difference between mp3 and flac... unfortunately :)....

argh! BUT I assume, as long as i own the original, I can DL in better QT, right (and if someone tells me otherwise, PLEASE shut up.. ..)

Too many albums I`ve purchased in MC, LP *AND* CD ....

That is simply NOT right in my book... :)
 
To the best of my knowledge 0 Gigs on either of my computers the wife has about .3 Gig I think from some CD's she was copying
 
160 gig HDD in my iMac
20 gig HDD in my wife's HP (originally 160, but the HDD shat a lizard and I had this one as a spare)
250 gig ethernet network HDD (so the iMac and the HP can swap files)

Same here. I use either FLAC or .m4a (AAC) @ 48 kHz sampling. Much better than the old .mp3 codec.
 
I have 2157 songs in MY library... 7.72 gigs. All of it is at 128 bit rate to save room, trimmed at the end (for cleaner crossfading) and levelized for sound loudness.

Pretty much all of it is classic rock. I have more... comedy, stuff my son likes (Boom booom booooooom) and some country that my gf wanted. But that is what I have for me at this time, not counting about 10 or so songs that I haven't levelized or trimmed yet, they are in a different folder.
 
I only have 41 gig of music, but 2 gig of that is Stereolab - the hardest working band of the 21-st century! So I ask ya'll who follow, not just how much physical memory do you have, but how much is dedicated to the most recordings of any particular band?? In my case, mind you, this is at Windoze Media Lossless Format. Twenty-nine separate recordings which can hardly be considered complete, because it does not take into account their side projects.
 
About 800 GB's in total. Usually encoded 320 VBR for best compromise between quality and size. (4*400GB Segate SATA2 in RAID 5, using onboard SiL controller).
