Hi, I am a budget audiophile and I already have a complete SS stereo system but I always want to taste the tube stereo components. I found this preamp for sale in my local market and it was asked for 650 CAD (~520 USD), the owner claimed that this preamp was equipped with an upgrade kit from eBay (135 USD) and was checked fully working by a technician. Is it good enough to produce the tube sound that I imagined (Yes, I never heard one...) and is the price reasonable?
In addition, I also paid half of the price (170 CAD) for the Musical Paradise mp-p1 phono MM/MC preamp (340 CAD) for a deposit to let the store withhold it for me. But I am in a dilemma now. On the one hand, I am bothered by the age and the price of the Heathkit, on the other hand, I really prefer a tube preamp that integrates phono and line stage since I listen more in digital.
What is your opinion? Please feel free to leave your comment !
