How old are you and how did you get into vinyl?

I started collecting records when I was a little kid 1959. The very first 45 I bought was from Paul Evans and The Curls. "Seven Little Girls Sitting in the Back Seat."

I'm 71 and still collecting.

When this thread started 20 years ago, I could say that I got my first record player at five years of age (Christmas 1964), and that I had records before then that were played on my mother's Sears radio/phonograph. In 2021, my financial circumstances were such that I needed to make a low-budget move to another state in search of cheaper rent. I couldn't afford to transport furniture, hifi gear, or my record collection, and I thought my record-playing days were over.

The thread title asks how old are you and how did you get into vinyl, and now I guess have a second answer to that question. At the urging of my older brother, early in 2022 and at age 62, I bought an AT turntable and plugged it into a Bose Wave table radio. I've been building up a small record collection since then. Now 65, I still think vinyl sounds best and currently enjoy a humble system of AT turntable, Sony receiver, and Cambridge Audio speakers.

Born in 1982.
The music I loved the most was exclusively released on vinyl when I started DJ'ing as a teenager in 1996.
Visited 'my' record shop every week to listen to new releases after I got bitten by the electronic music bug.
And it was quite a journey from my little village to that shop!
10 or so years later a local true 'underground' DJ started his own shop, and I never looked back after walking in there:

Not the only place I go to obviously, but specialty music shops are my favorite and we're luckily still quite spoiled for choice over here.

Saw a record ad on t.v. KTel's "Wings of Sound"

Brother and I asked the folks to order this for us.

Played it on Montgomery Ward's "Airline" console. circa 1979 ish... has tubes in it (still runs far as I know)

Vinyl was all there was in the 60s and 70s; my first 45 was the Byrd’s “Turn, Turn,Turn” when I was ten. A friend shared a bedroom with his older brother, who worked in a department store’s record department- I was hooked when he came home with Disraeli Gears and Cheap Thrills. Started listening to the FM album station (WABX). Started playing and ended up in a band in 8th grade.
First real stereo I bought new was probably’76- a Pioneer SX-1050, JBL L100s, and a Dual 604 turntable with a Shure V15 III. Later I added two more L100s.
Sold it all in the late 90s. Got interested again about 10 years ago, and probably have bought again mostof the albums I sold and gave away. Plus a lot more….
Have a number of systems, but my daily driver is an Eico ST70, Dual 1209, and JBL 4412s.
