how to connect HPM+901 with equalizer

i wanted to ask something :

i run SPEC 1 + 4
the main speakers are HPM 100
wanted to connect the Bose 901 as extra pair "rears"
when i connect them (hpm as A & 901 as B speakers) and drive them both,
the equalizer affects also the HPM
so , the sound of the HPM is being "over" .
is there any way to make the equalizer affect only the 901 and keep the HPM neutral?
was thinking of a way to make the equalizer "passive" and connect it just before the 901

The eq normally goes between the amp and preamp. So the only way I can think of...is you would need another amp for the 901s

Do you usually run them both at the same time? If you only run one at a time you can connect it to your tape loop and use the tape monitor switch to engage or disengage the eq. I can't think of a way to just run them to one pair of speakers when playing both unless you had 2 separate amplifiers.
 
well i have another amplifer , it's SA 8500ii integrated and it's available
but , what does this give me? how shall i connect?
 
since the spec 1 has 2 outputs you can connect the eq to output 1 and send that to one of your amps that will power the 901's. Use output 2 to connect to your other amp and run the hpm's off of that one.
 
You need to able to seperate the pre out and main in. get a Y adaptor. Male on one end and 2 female on the other. Put the male end into the Spec pre out. Now connect 1 female end to the spec amp and the other female to the EQ, EQ out the the SA 8500. OR you could just go straight to the the 8500 and run the eq through the tape loop like bryblop says.

but anyway , shall it be ok to use only 1 amp , like i used to do ,
connect wires from SPEAKERS B - and at their end would be RCA , that plugs into the 901 EQUALIZER , and the output goes to the Bose 901 speakers?
 
Don't do it. The eq is only designed to handle Line Level signals. Hooking it to the speaker outputs of the amp would surely damage it and also possibly damage the amplifier.
