recently purchased a AU-4900 Serial No: 835100472 through the trading post. Excellent cosmetic condition, the safety seems to click in and out on power up, but once it warms up it sounds beautiful. Price paid AUD$50.00. Anyone have a clue as to what could be wrong, in my ignorant and naieve mind I'm thinking dry solder?

I also got hold of a TU-3900 for AUD$71.00, and will supply the serial number later. My AU-555A has no serial sticker, and I am too scared to have a look inside, for fear of offending her. The AU-555A has made me remember why I bought my Magnepan SMG's back in 1983 and what music is all about.

Check the sticky thread in the Solid State forum titled "Amplifier Dirtortion, DC-Offset, and You ... " for great information on setting up your SS amp. Yours may only need adjustment.

OK, no problem. I've done that too - found a thread and added message only to discover later that the thread was two years old!

Sansui G9000

Just checked out my Sansui G9000. serial number 818020970. which would mean assembly line 81 built in february of 1978and was the 970th made.

The last 4 digits of the serial number represent the number of units that came off that assembly line that month. In some cases, multiple models were made on the same assembly line during the month.

So yours is probably not the 970th one built unless February '78 was the first month of production, the G-9000 was only built on that line and no other models were made on that line before yours.
