How to Ground an AR XA TT?

My AR XA TT causes hum when connected to the Dynaco PAT-4 (& ST-120). No hum when unplugged. There's currently no gound wire on the XA - only the output cable with two phono plugs. Where should I connect a ground wire (on the TT, that is)? There is a thin ground wire from the arm going down under somewhere - connect to that?

The ground wire is built into the cable's Left channel, try Cleaning the cable ends 1st and check the headshell wires going to the cartridge and the headshell contacts.
Also how are the tonearm wires going through the chassis?

I have (2) AR-XA's they play and sound beautiful.

Also try fiddling with the contacts between the headshell and the arm. I had almost the same problem. I was getting hum from poor contact to the headshell. If you remove the headshell and look in at the contacts, you can see where they butt into the arm contacts. They may need cleaning with alcohol or contact cleaner.
