How to know if receiver is remote-control adapted ?

Hi all,

I have this old BPC receiver they call "Sony Audio/Video Control Center" which is basically a Sony STR-AV200 From the late 80's. Ii can't find the manual online.

I want to see if I could be able to program a universal remote control so I could at least control the volume button remotely. That would allow me to offer this receiver as a Christmas gift to my mom who's currently buying all furniture for her new home bu t still is watching TV with the intergrated TV speaker.

The name "audio/video control center" make it sound to me like it's remote-control capable. But honestly I've never been able to program a god damned universal remote control to a receiver.

So I'm basically just asking here - is there a way to know if that's remote-control capable ? Thank you.

that almost got me....he's got a str av200. they are different

Use a flash light pointed at the faceplate, move it around and see if you see an infrared eye.
If it has an eye it's probably remote compatible.

Maybe. Sony often used the same layout. There could be a place for an eye, but no actual eye. There could be an eye, but no circuitry. All that reserved for upper models
