And the conclusion................well it finally got here. I happen to have a parts
unit to replace the knobs, faceplate & laminate cover. And now she looks beautiful.
Currently I have them hooked up to a pair of ATL Atlantis oracle 3's, ok for now
until I get my AR 10pi, from upstairs. Just what I wanted to add to my Sansui collection.
Exellent packing job, no damage at all and playing quite nicely.

Nice job, but a little overkill for me. Yes, you have to protect the knobs. But I like to use the styrofoam you get from desktop computers. They fit pretty well, and you can tighten them up, and they can be free.

My rule of thumb is that once styrofoamed, then garbage bagged for water, you get a big enough box to have about two inches all around it. Doesn't matter what you fill it with, as long as the package inside doesn't move. I usually roll the box around and if I feel it move, I repack it. But I haven't actually had to do that yet.

I don't see the plywood on your list of materials tho'.

IMO the right type of foam,eliminates the need for plywood,and drops the weight considerably.Not using UPS, all but eliminates the need for fork lift protection.
