How do I remove the Tuning Knob from a Pioneer SX-680 receiver?
I’ve done a Search here using *80 and Tuning Knob – couldn't quite find what I need.
Background – I had the good fortune to be given an SX-680. All lights, controls, etc function, but the receiver is very dirty inside and out, hence the need to strip it down for cleaning. All of the front panel control knobs pull off fairly readily except for the Tuning Knob. No sign of any hex screws. Before I put any ‘leverage’ to it, thought I’d check in here first. Only mention in the Service Manual is, “Remove all the knobs by pulling (excluding the push buttons)”.
May be just a build-up of crud, but if the SX-680 Tuning Knob is a push-on/pull-off type, any ideas on how to loosen it?
I also have an SX-838. The Tuning Knob on it is removed by loosening a couple of hex screws on the shaft. Zinger – there is no mention of this in the 838 Service Manual. All it says is, “Pull off all knobs”.
So I’m wondering if there is another zinger with the 680...
