How to Setup Fisher 4060, help a newb!

I’m new to AK and to analog receivers and am struggling to get good sound out of my new Fisher 4060. Sometimes the audio is crackly, sometimes it’s fine. Maybe bad speaker connections/wires? Does anyone have suggesting for which settings to use hooking up 2 channel phono and six inputs into the 4 channel system?

Also, are there any user manuals I can purchase that aren’t $200?

Many thanks!!

Update to last post:

It seems my left channel puts out very little audio unless I put the 4060 in Mono mode. Then the left channel bumps. Right channel seems to be fine. What’s going on?! I’m befuddled

2 channel speaker HOOKUP. TOP ROW. MAIN IS what is now known as SPKR "A", Remote is now known as SPKR "B". Front is the LEFT Hand Pair and Rear is the RIGHT HAND PAIR. + is POSITIVE, -- is NEGATIVE or COMMON.

The crackling and noise indicates either a dirty control, or a part going flakey. I'd bet on a dirty control, before a part (transistor, or cap).
Open the bottom & top, and clean every SWITCH, and POT on the front. You may have to do some dis-assembly depending on access. Cleaning switches and pots is the easiest and 1st thing to do. It will also rule them out if nothing changes.

Is the channel drop off in ALL MODES or just one mode, like Aux??

Thanks Larry!

The audio cuts out on all modes (phono tape and aux). From things I’ve seen on other posts, it sounds like it might be a bigger issue. What’s your guess?

The shop that sold it to me took it back to look at it. I’ll see how it sounds when I get it back and disassemble if need be.

I appreciate the help! Glad to be connected here

I've had good luck with just a cleaning of all controls with Deoxit. watch some youtube videos to learn how to do it.
