Today I received my 2nd Pioneer receiver, an SX-440. I had noticed that it's dimensions are pretty similar to the SX-1000TW which I already own, and on a whim tried fitting the SX-440 in the SX-1000TW's wood case and it actually looks pretty great! Unfortunately it isn't a perfect fit as the front face of the SX-440 is about 1/2" taller than the SX-1000TW and I'm sure I'd have to make new screwholes in the bottom if I actually wanted to case-swap, but for someone looking to build a custom wooden enclosure for the SX-440 in the future, the SX-1000TW's case might not be a bad reference to start with.
Anyways, for anyone who wondered what the SX-440 would look like in a full wood enclosure, now you know! I really like the looks, makes me think of McIntosh gear, like their MR78 Tuner.
