How would a Pioneer SX-1050 sound with my Mirage M-3si's?

A local audio friend of mine is selling one (sx-1050). I used to have a Luxman r-117 and I was thinking of going to the 1050. I was also thinking of going separates... a Rotel RB-990BX power amp with maybe a Hafler 915 preamp.

Any thoughts on these scenarios? My CD player is a Yamaha CDX-1110u (on the way).

Thanks for your thoughts and recommendations.

I would think no one would really know unless they had that same system but hey here's a thought see if you could try the 1050 out with your Spks and then you'll know:)

I have M3-Si. The 1050 will probably drive them but will not be close to getting the most out of them. They are truly high end speakers that will keep improving as you move up the food chain. Levinson and the like are not wasted on them, though few of us have the budget to go that high. I do think the 1050 will be in over its head.

Certainly worth a try if it is local and a friend would let you try before buying. Congrats on the CDP!
