Howdy Y’all!

I’ll probably be in here a lot asking about gear recommendations along with how to get the most out of what I currently have. Just getting into the vinyl/hi-if scene. Any tips or general advice is appreciated!

My current setup is as follows:

- MCS 6502 tt (currently not functional, I believe there’s a bad capacitor in the board which controls the motor that spins the platter)

- Regarding the stylus, I have no idea what model Audio Technica stylus is on the MCS. I’m guessing it’s a cheaper one from them. The casing around the stylus is yellow if that means anything

- Pioneer VSX-523 amp/receiver

- Soon to be mine KLH Pro-51 3 way speakers
(About to pick them up for $80)

Welcome to the AK Crew.

After a quick look-see...
you def have entry level
gear to work with.

The "Pio 523" was OK for it's time (2013)
and for a 5.1 AV set up; adequate
@80 per channel. The built in
speaker feature a plus.

The "KLH's" bookshelf-types used,
selling for what your buying.
You can still buy new for $160 (Ebay)

The MCS rebuilt going for around $160.

So, all the above are keeping in
relation to each other level-wise.

Just take yer time, continue
to ask. Set up a budget,
and in no time,
you'll be good to go.

Acquisition of records, esp
the more selective will prob
cost you more in the log run, eh?

Appreciate the info! I haven’t been able to find anything at all on the KLHs. They’re towers and they’re actually 2 way according to the guy that sold them to me. Apparently he replaced the subs with some from Martin Logan. I have no idea what the model number for those are.

I’ve also already built up a decent vinyl collection for myself. Excited to be able to actually use them.

Take more time on the obtaining of a TT.

Do you homework, as to vint/new
auto/manual. I'd maybe start
with a more upscale unit, then
eventually go on to attain
the rest of the gear...keeping all
in similar level of performance.

Just a suggestion.
