Picked up a pair of HPM 1500's in Tacoma off of the shopgoodwill site...................can't say I got them for $15

I know the Goodwill in Santa Ana so not surprised at the value - Auction ended with 30 bidders and high bid of $280, a decent deal for local pickup.

Well, there is some truth to that. This pair is missing one grille which might cost $30-40 to acquire. The veneer is probably pretty easy to clean up with some steam swelling of the scratches, light sanding, some RAF or Watco as a finish, and then general clean up of the baffle and drivers. Assuming all the drivers work, a local could have them in very good shape with a total outlay of less than $350 and some TLC.

OTOH, here's a nice pair in Rowland Heights, about 30 minutes north of the Goodwill Santa Ana by freeway that are also local pickup, have both grilles, and are in nice condition, probably needing just some clean up and a refinish of choice. They are $500 obo so if you're really good, you might be able to get them for $400 and you'd have a nice set for a bit of TLC.
