HPM-900 woofers refoam or replace

I just picked up a nice set of 900s but they need a refoam job
I was wondering if I could replace them with the hpm 100 woofer
I checked epay site and the 200w version is a differant pioneer
number and mine are black, but they are the 200w version. I
have'nt been able to find anybody in my area that refoams speakers.
I know they would'nt be the same but could I use the white hpm
200w woofer instead, or could somebody point me in the direction
of somebody here that doe's a great job refoaming speakers. Thanks
I'm in Michigan

If you can refoam the original polymer graphite ("PG") woofers that would be best. Someone who knows those woofers needs to do it because the PG cones are very easily cracked, very brittle.

Or you can install HPM-100 woofers in your 900s like I did. Cabinet size and port are similar and the combination sounds great, plus I don't have to worry about foam rot. My original 900 woofer surrounds rotted out about 20 years ago, and I broke one of the PG cones in my first attempt to re-foam a woofer, had a line in a pair of HPM-100 woofers so that's what I did.

Those woofers are pretty easy to refoam. Just use a test tone for centering and work carefully.

Thanks, I would like the originals refoamed but I would rather have it
done by someone that knows what there doing. When you replaced
your original woofers with the 100s did you use the 100w or the 200w
woofers? Just checking if there's a differance.
