HRT Music Streamer II vs Xiang Sheng tube DAC

I need a USB DAC for my computer. I am tired of hearing my hard-drive spin up through my speakers, so its time for some isolation between the digital and analog sides of things.

I am leaning towards the HRT Music Streamer II because I have read nothing but rave reviews of it and it is the right price point for me. However, I am super intrigued by this direct from China hifi gear that is all over ebay these days. The Xiang Sheng DAC-01A, for instance, is around the same price and it looks like it was built by the same people that make Grant Fidelity's Tube DAC.

Any electronics I get will come from China anyway. Why not order direct?

I own the MSII and it's a very nice little device. Sorry I can't compre it to the Chinese unit you mentioned.

I do also own an Audinst HUD-mx1, which comes from Korea. It's an excellent and versatile unit that not only has a competent DAC section, but has a decent headphone amp built in as well. You may not need the amp section, but it's worth considering. This little box can do a lot (even serve as a USB-->optical converter) if you need it to.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.
