Humidity- how much is too much?

I checked the manual on one bit of gear I owned, and the only note I found related to humidity read thusly:

It is not to pour the liquid into the ventilation [sic] .

So I had to find another spot to dump that last swallow of coffee.

Heh, if you guys want to know the technical details of humidity, I'll explain past my laymans primer that I gave on page one.
