Humm in AR turntable.

Hey Guys,

Just trying to figure out a humm thats been acquired in my AR turntable. I noticed the other day I got a pretty loud humm when I touched the connection piece on the Arm to the headshell. From there I noticed when I touched my red RCA connector at the Amp I got a very loud buzz.

I hooked up another turntable to see if the issue was in the amp and got no buzz in the table.

where do i go from here?

A ground loop? Sum all grounds is the usual advice. If the tonearm still has the original wiring I'd suspect that might be where to start.
 
Lorenzo is right mine did the same thing. I wanted a few other mods done so I had someone else do mine. As said above if the original wire still exists great place to start. If original just how old would it be? A lot of movement in those years. I don't Ever expect to get rid of my AR now!

yeah makes sense about the tonearm wiring it was kinda what i was figuring. i think thats beyond my ability. will have to try and find someone with the skills.

its all original - AR77XB I love the table cant imagine getting rid of it! but im gonna have to look for someone who might have the skills to re-wire this arm. Thanks for the thoughts!

There are a lot of people that can do that for you. Many are members of this forum. Ask and maybe you can find someone that lives close to you. By the way, I am not one of those people. My arthritis is too bad.
