"Hurricane Patricia, the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere, made landfall in the Mexican state of Jalisco as a Category 5 storm with winds up to 200 mph, storm surges and drenching rain. Landslides and flooding have been reported, but there's no word yet on fatalities or major damage."

"Tens of thousands of people were evacuated up and down the coast, and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto warned that the nation has never seen a hurricane of this magnitude." LA Times

Tonight and in the coming days spare a thought and prayer for our friends in Mexico.

Hope everyone can get through this in Mexico and Texas without too much damage. 5-20 inches of rain can cause a lot of havoc, winds supposedly in the upper 100's too.

Keeping Mexico in my thoughts, but we sure did need the rain down here so it's very welcome by me. With huge cracks in my yard, I'm lovin' it.

My mom lives down there, close to Brooks city base. How much rain have you received so far? Here in Tyler, it's been non-stop since yesterday. Don't know how much has fallen here yet.

Dallas has been getting hammered as well. If it keeps up like this all day, ole Rome should be floating by my place early this evening.

I'm guessing that Patricia hasn't made it to San Antonio yet (7:45 am central, Sat, Oct 24), but there is some welcome rainfall here today.

I sure hope Mexico doesn't suffer too badly.
