I Am A 'Pi-Head' As Well As A 'Bottlehead'

I birthed a pair of 2 Pi Tower speakers (www.pispeakers.com) yesterday for my Bottlehead system. The cabinets still need a final finish, but I just had to hear them. Really awesome sound with only 8 watts of power driving them.

I am not much on the lingo used to describe speaker sound, but I did notice things I never recalled hearing before like the trailing-off sound of a triangle strike, inhales by a sax player during a solo, the impact of a bass drum hit and the 'airyness' of the music. I suppose the latter could be defined as an open soundstage where I can hear that a drum is in the back and the vocalist up front. Enough with the dribble, here are the photos...

Beautiful job! Is that wood used for the speakers a veneer over MDF or a predone veneer over plywood?...like used in high end finish construction?

I like their physical size which looks like it allows just the right height on the tweeter position :thmbsp:

Nice Job!!!

Wow,those look really nice, the grain really shows through beautifully in the pics.
Without trying to be rude and carrying on the "Witty-Banter "thats being flying around here at our "Family Christmas", I think you might be a bit of a very talented "Wood-Head too!!!"
I would listen too them till Summer, the caps should be broken in nicely, then you can put some light sealer stain on them!..Seriously I bet they sound as good as they look!! Happy Holidays Triode Altec Concert Kenny

Thanks for looking. The cabinets are baltic birch plywood. Went with a natural finish to start; may consider veneer in the future.
