Does anyone here have Tangent T 5000's ? I do not remember seeing any posts regarding them. I was lucky enough to talk to Bob Crites and he told me that they were a version of the Tangent 500's that were mainly sold overseas, through military stores. I have used these in my main system for 3 years now and have no desire to try anything else. They are being driven by a VTA modified Dynaco ST-70 and the combination is pure magic for me. Is anyone out there using these? What do you think about them?

Hi Charlie,
I have a pair of T 4000's. Same as yours except with ports instead of the passive radiator. The T 4000 replaced the T 400 like the T 5000 replaced the T 500.
T XXX was made from 1991 to 1992, T XXXX from 1993 to 1994. T 5000 here: http://www.klipsch.com/t-5000/details
The T4000/5000 use the mid and high drivers from the Heresy 2 with a larger woofer and cabinet, so are called "Heresy's with bass".
I like the sound of mine. Yours probably has better bass with that passive radiator.
Seems like the Tangent series was marketed mostly through AAFES and the first owner of mine was in the military.
DId you install Crites crossover in yours? How did they change the sound?

I bought mine from someone who had been in the military too. When I pulled the crossovers out and saw that they have a 68uf and three 1.5's. I went the cheap route and ordered the caps online and replaced them. It's hard to described the change They sounded pretty good before but with the new caps they seemed to come alive. And bass, oh yeah, no need for any subs with these monsters.
