I bought a sound hole pickup last weekend

My band had practice Saturday night and on some songs I play acoustic guitar. Didn't have a pickup so I was using an AKG D1000 mic. Sounded great but I couldn't get much volume before it started feeding back. So Sunday I went down to Guitar Center and picked up a Dean Markley Promag Gold sound hole pickup.

Man, this thing sounds so sweet, just like the normal sound of my guitar, but amplified. Nice warm bass and silky highs. It's amazing they can do that with just a coil pickup with no mic or piezo. I'm ready to rock now!

Cool! I've got an old Don Lace that I hardly ever use because it sounds so, plastic? Good to hear of a better option...

I bought a Dean Markley very similar to that back in about 1991 and still have it around. It does sound very nice.

The DM is a very nice sounding unit. Brings the best out of your acoustic. Probably the number one pick among acoustic players that need amplification. I really enjoyed mine over the years. Pick on!

You'd have to check how the pickup is picking up- it might be dependant on the metal in the strings and not the vibrations (hence the "magnetic pickup").

I've got the tube pickup, it's not bad but not great. Easy to install & remove quickly.

Yes, it's an inductive pickup, so it would only work with the wound strings on a classical guitar. You would need a microphone or under saddle pickup.
