So my older sister came from Texas and visit us for the holidays. She and I we were heading to the store the other day shopping and we walk by the electronic department and their they had a turntable. She said I like those to have. I said to her why do like to have to have one? Her answer was that she like how records sound with crackle and pop and the music. This is from a person who like listening mostly top 40 music using earbuds. I guess I will be buying her a decent system for her enjoy in the near future. Something that made my day.

Good for her!

You might gently suggest a couple of ways to reduce crackle and pop in order to make her listening experience that much sweeter.

May we presume you don't do vinyl? Your post would seem to indicate so. If so, you should tell her why you don't do vinyl. :)

There's music in those crackles. and pops. If that's what she enjoys let her enjoy it. I certainly did for many years until I made the conscious decision to improve.Let her be...help if she asks....don't criticize...and let her enjoy those crackle and pops.

I really like the sound of records that are in good clean condition. I really hate listening to pops and crackles.
99.9% of the time I listen to cd's or FM radio. And FM radio is not always "that clean", at least with my system and my location.
Once or twice a year I'll play a record or two, mostly to make sure my turntable is still operating properly.

I like listening to records but just don't have the room for storage. For convenience I have been using lossless audio files which I play most of the time. If I tell her then she wouldn't be happy:)

At this New Year's house party I was asked by a 28-old lady what did I think about vinyl. I told her that vinyl died forty years ago, when compact disc was invented. She was not happy with the answer.
