My days of working hard to acquire mediocre speakers are over. In my opinion, these are mediocre. I owned the S45 and the S75, and was never impressed with even the S75. They looked way better than they sounded. Fairly balanced, but overall thin and lifeless. I moved both sets on quickly. And in my experience, frankenspeakers never sound better than the originals. There's a good amount of design and engineering that goes into a cabinet. I've heard very good drivers sound very poor in a "custom" cabinet.
For me, I don't bother with a speaker that's not great. Too much hassle driving to get them, hauling them to the basement, hooking them up, being disappointed, then having to do all the work to sell them. But that's just me.
