I can't believe this guy can just go down in his basement and visit whenever he wants. Talk about a "blast from the past ..."

If only my basement wasn't so overstuffed with the remnants of two businesses, two kids, thirty years worth of accumulated crap - and, of course, an overload of vintage audio gear...

If I had the space in my basement, I might have tried to put together a replica Stereo Store from the 70's. I wasted my space on a room for my motorcycle, an office, a shop, a "Stereo Den" and 3 garage bays for my collector cars.

But Analog Addict has the room!

Maybe a replica 1950s, 1960s, or 1970s hifi shop... would make a nice basement.

Last spring I sold a 70s era Sansui receiver to a guy. He told me that he had run a record store in the 70s and was recreating it in his basement. He wanted the receiver for a listening area in the "store". We kept in touch and when it was done he invited me over to see it. Sure enough, it was just like I remembered record stores from the 70s.

that was sooooo cool, man just imagine all the work he has put into that basement, i thought the half wagon he made that was placed against a mirror to fool the eye into seeing a whole wagon was ingenious!!

you know it seems to me every neighborhood has a guy like this, maybe with different obsessions but endless energy and ideas and the drive to get it done, i have a buddy like that, almost every vehicle, mower, home, etc. that he owns eventually gets completely tore down in some respect and totally rebuilt, he has a gravely riding mower that he has done this two no less than three times!! i teased him once about the mower by asking if he ever felt like he was beating a dead horse....i think it kinda pissed him off for a minute LOL

well you know...if your record collection is big enough, you're really just killing two birds with one stone, you gotta store them somewhere right?you might as well have bins and dress it up...record stores were often pretty well organized and made to be easy to find stuff in...mostly

What was cool though, was he still had tons of promotional stuff from when he ran the store. Glass counters with rarities and the like. Very well done.
