I got to hear a nice system on the weekend

I went to visit a friend about 2 hours away from here on the weekend. He is soon moving as he sold the house he has been in for the last 20 years so and he has a lot to take get rid of and clean up and the system was not at it's best. He has put away his room dressings and Magnepans and other large speakers. However even at that, it was pretty damn awesome.

I can't provide all the details on it as I don't know them. We had a lot going on and he did not have time to tell me everything the inquiring mind wanted to know or could absorb.

Anyway, it's all on custom Rix Rax: http://www.rixrax.com/comprack.html and features my friends own one of a kind turntable that took him years and thousands of dollars to build. And all I had was my phone camera.

That's pretty sharp. I hope your friend isn't moving too far from you to go hang out once in a while. I also have a friend into higher end tube gear (though his tt is not a one-of-a-kind, but still impressive). It's always fun to slide on by and hear the difference.

He won't be too far away. In fact we have offered to let him stay at our cabin for a while. I have 2 systems over there but he would have to lower his standards considerably to use them. :)

Well, I'd cherish a clock radio with a cracked speaker if it was the only way to hear music. I'm sure what you have to offer is a little better than that, anyway. Seems like your friend is probably in good hands.

Looks very classy, and is obviously the product of long experience, careful choices, dedicated labor, and a lifetime of listening. A system is more than a collection of components, no matter how good or how expensive.

Thanks for showing it to us. I wish I could hear it.
