I had a [quadrophonic Marantz] dream.

This stemmed from a discussion with a friend of what I would I do with 3 turntables since I have another one coming. I said I could set one up for quadrophonic, collect all the gear, and get CD-4 records and an 8 track reel to reel player.

So I thought, what would I need:
-A record player setup for CD-4
-An 8 track reel to reel recorder
-A demodulator (Marantz CD400)
-A Quadradial preamp. (Marantz 4000)
-Another amp, how about a Marantz 300SD
-and another pair of speakers.

After looking at the manuals for all this, I drew up an excel sheet of my existing system of a 2385 and sources, and added in all the new stuff. I think I have it wired right. I do wonder about a few things:

1. Is there any functional difference between the 2 channel tape loop on the 4000 quadradial preamp vs just sending a 2 channel source over from the other tape loop on the 2385? They're both tape loops.

2. I don't see a functional difference between the 4000's 4 channel tape in, and the CD400s 4 channel aux input, other than lacking the tape out side of the loop.

This is probably an exercise that will never occur, but it was kind of fun to think about.
