Not sure. I believe they unscrew to allow spades and wire.

They are by Energy so should be good but I don't see caps on the posts.
With caps, they should look like this with that transparent cap on each post:

But they look like this, I can see the threads on binding posts but no caps. Also, I'm not sure if it's the same size :

Edit: They are only 42.5 inches tall, not 50 inches as mentioned in online specifications.
I realized SDA SRS-3.1TL's are taller and they are only around 49 inches tall.
So much for trusting online articles.

I think I did mine with USB mouse wire which is really thin, like 30-something gauge. Mine burned up in exactly the same place.

Thank you Boston Acoustics -- better a burned out wire than a toasted voice coil.

Discoloration is probably residue from solder paste or something like that. I think?

I'm curious to hear your impressions on the A400 vs. T1030 too.

I also have a pair of A70's and was going to scavenge a tweeter out of it. Looks like they use the same technology, possibly the same driver but with a different mounting plate. It wouldn't fit in other words.

I wouldn't use the whole plastic terminal cup, just the metal binding posts. The old incomplete binding post should be easily removable. Just slip the new one in it's place and have one that is mismatched.

If the one I linked doesn't look right, Parts Express has several different kinds.

The tweeter is not expensive.
Auction site has them for around $30 if needed.

Right now A400's are not in rotation due to recent acquisitions of other speakers.
Many say A400's are better than T1030 but quite a few like T1030 better while most say they are very similar.
They both are top of the line in their series.
T1030's may be the right speakers I was looking for that works in my small living room.
I have not compared these with A400's yet but will do soon.
But from my memories of A400's, I can describe their sound.
Highs/Mids:
T1030's have almost exact highs as A400's. The tweeter is amazing. It produces so nice and smooth but fully detailed highs that I haven't heard in any speakers I own. The sizzles, resonance, radiance etc... is very detailed but not bright, not metallic, not nasal. Even L100T's tweeter doesn't have all the things that Boston's tweeter does. L100T's sound little metallic, little nasal on highs and mids hinting sound is little bit constrained but very slightly. Boston's sound more free and open.
A400's have little stronger mids than T1030 which would be great if A400's complemented that with little more on the low excursion.
A400's have great bass but it's tight/attack with not much follow through/excursion after the low note. It's more bouncy than I want. May be the new surrounds need more flexing/burn-in for them to be softer on bass. :headscrat

Lows:
T1030's have that low excursion follow through that's missing/rolls off too soon/bounces too fast in A400's.

JBL L100T's have amazing bass but it has more grunt to the sound.
In fact, JBL's have more punch in everything from highs/mids to lows.
Imagine same car with V6 vs V8, everything sounds similar but V8 has more power.
So lows have more bounce, mids/highs brighter and more metallic on the JBL's but sound great.
If you switch from T1030's to L100T's, first few seconds will be too bright and vice versa (too smooth the other way).
For action movies, I think JBL's would be great if you have your own place without having to worry about neighbors as JBL's produce really big sound and huge bass that shakes everything.
T1030's also have great bass but it's not as forceful as the JBL's. They still shake the room but it doesn't feel like it's hitting you in the chest.
So, in my limited space, I think T1030's are the best.
I'll compare them with A400 when Polk SDA SRS-3.1TL's are gone.

When you get these up and running, please give a thorough listening and compare with your A400's... I have A400's and find they sound great. I would love to try the T1030 and T930.

Boston Acoustics T1030 vs A400 Comparison
This is limited to moderate volume (not high) and in a small room.
Results may be different at louder volume in larger room.

T1030:
Very smooth sounding speakers with great but soft bass thump.
Mids/highs are very good except they sound little softer/smoother and slightly recessed when compared against A400.
I can hear soft bass extension that doesn't end too abruptly.

A400:
Almost exact sound characteristics as T1030 but little more dynamic, specially the highs/mids sound more open, brighter and louder.
I hear more high frequency musical instruments with vocals while in T1030, some high music notes are not at the same level as vocals.
That adds little more sizzles on A400's.
Bass is tighter in A400's and it ends earlier than T1030 so it feels like bass is punchier in A400's while softer in T1030.
Overall, A400's feel like they have little more grunt on everything, highs/mids/lows.
Strings sound brighter in A400's but not too bright.

I'm guessing if I listen to speakers all day, T1030 may be better as it's slightly smoother and may not have ear fatigue over the long run.
But if I have to pick one pair, it'll be A400's without hesitation.
A400's just sound very free, open and like live music.
T1030's are not far behind but feels little bit constrained on everything by slight margin except better low extension.
T1030's are on my top list along with A400 and L100T.

So, is that as clear as mud? :headscrat
