I have new speakers. But first another quiz.

banging through drywall
I bought a new set of speakers today but until I can post pictures, hopefully Sunday, I'm not talking. I fear the dreaded "THIS POST IS WORTHLESS". So, what do I have? They belong on the floor but they are not floor standing. They are definately Kabuki but they definately are not Kabuki. They seem to be very popular but this is the first pair I have ever seen. They weigh about 55 lbs but they are skinnier than I am. No comments please. The cabinets are wood but they have no cabinets per se. One Denver area AK'er knows what I have so he can't play. Others may have a clue, we will see. If this goes as well as my poetry quiz you will all know what I got very soon.

No pics to aid in the search, but is it DCM Timewindows, that I am trying to remember, or Dahlquist DQ-10's? Can never keep them straight.

D#&*%! LV. Missed your post but you are good. DQ-10 is the correct answer. I have to get out of this quiz business. Craigslisting, I was the first to respond. Asking price was $400 sold for $350. They have been recapped and refoamed. Wood in excellent condition. No dents on the screen. Fabric is good. Sound wonderful. Seller had them hooked up to a 75w Mac tube amp. His main speakers were some monster 8ft Martin Logan's. All I have to feed them is a Melody 37w tube amp or a Sansui AU-517. Right now they are on the tube and sound great. Guess I will have to invest in a big ass amp soon. Price reduced because no stands, those can be built easily enough. Sansui SP-30's filling in as stands temporarily. Pictures and more info to follow.

Way to go Ross!!! I wish that I was in the acquiring mode right now. We need to put together another Colorado get together!!!

WHEW! Thought I was really losing it there. I have never heard them, but I know that Russman posted some pics, as have a few others. Alas, no pics to search. Had to rely on my poor memory.

These were on my short list. But they had to be local, would be a pain to ship. I dont really have the proper room to set them up in or the right amp to power them. Still the price was right and I couldn't resist. I now understand why they have such a passionate following. Christmas is coming, anyone want to give me 200 watts of power? I think I've been good this year.

Congrat's Ross !!! :thmbsp:

I saw that ad too... took everything I had in me to resist the temptation !!! :sigh:
Hopefully we can do another get together like gonzp suggested... love to hear them singing !!!

Way to go Ross!! I seen those listed as well. Too bad I don't "need" anymore speaks at the moment. And I agree with gonzp that we need to get together again. How's your house sound :D ?

I ran the idea by my wife and it was met with surprising tollerance! Man, I am so glad I married that woman! Did I mention that she was going to a hoity toity event tonight and was all dressed up and looked really hot and... did I say that out loud?

Anyhow, I'd love to host the next event! Has to be after Nov. is over. It's a sweeps month at the TV station and I'm working like a dog. We could do an early Dec. thing before the holidays, or a Jan. thing to ring in the new year AK style. What do you guys think? Lets get an idea or two and then I'll start a thread for it.

Take care,

Ed
