Strangely enough Whathifi has the most cohesive article about this for those who don't follow the random bits of news on a daily basis.

Google's next generation smartphone unofficially called the Nexus 5 is set to be announced and released by the end of the month. It will supposedly debut Android 4.4. What has me excited is the price. It should be half the cost of a retail/unlocked iPhone 5S, or about $350. Based on official specs leaked from LG it should have a 2.3 GHz processor, 2 gigs of ram, 4.95 inch screen, an improved 8 megapixel camera and access to worldwide LTE bands. Those last two bits improve on my beloved Nexus 4's shortfalls and the rest of those specs put the phone squarely in competition with TOTL phones from Samsung and HTC for half the cost or less.

I like my Nexus for its premium feel, speedy and intuitive stock Android OS, the fact that it comes completely unlocked and the lack of manufacturer/carrier bloatware. I'm going to buy the new Nexus unlocked from Google as soon as I am able and then pass the Nexus 4 on to my mother who kind of really wants to try a smartphone.

This phone should be a great deal for somebody who wants a TOTL phone for half the price of other TOTL phones. Who doesn't appreciate a bargain?

I love my N4. It was a incredible improvement over my old android device. Everyday I learn something new and of course I rub it in the faces of my iPhone loving kids. :lmao:
only problem in Canada is the "scumbag" mobilco's price the 4 with all comparable phones. "scumbag" read only three carriers in Canada with the HIGHEST rates in the world.

Be careful with your N4s guys! I just developed this crack setting the phone down on the desk a little too hard while changing the Sim out from my HTC One. It was outside of the Ringke Fusion bumper case. Luckily there's little chance of a crack on the back hurting anything like a crack on the front could. There are rear glass repair kits however I think if I were to attempt repair myself I'd spring for the $60 OEM back panels they have on eBay.

Glass on the back. Where gravity can find it. What a silly idea.

At least the Nexus 5 will have a rubberized back like the Asus Nexus 7 tablets do. Time to put this back in the bumper case where at least that little crack is mostly hidden ;_;

I was considering a Nexus 10 tablet, but seems like the charger is some dodgy magnetic coupling something. Might not be an issue on a phone, never had one of those.
