I hit the Motherload of CD's at the Thrift Shop!

Same here, I'm outta storage. Cars don't help either.

It's the golden age of the CD. I go nuts if there's some good ones in there. I've read around the AK forums of guys picking up LPs cheap in the late 90's- early 2000's for a buck each. Same thing is happening in the CD world at the moment.

I picked up piles of LPs for $1. Some for a lot less, back in the 2000's.

I have to stop going to "The Friend's". They keep having 10 CDs for $1. Their stash keeps getting refreshed, so often new stuff.

Found 5 M- CDs today for $1 each!! Only 5, that's all - Very Cool albums though!!

1. Caetano, Milton, Djavan (S/T)- all 3 artists on one CD. They may be all playing together - don't know yet. CD pressed in Portugal. Very Cool!!

2. Djavan - Petala - early 80s Brazilian musician - CD pressed in Portugal.
(Saw Djavan in concert in Rio de Janeiro back in 1982. It was only him singing and playing a hollow body guitar. I just remember him being solo BUT he may have had a backup band for a few songs, can't really remember. Excellent concert though - Very Personal type 'feeling'! Everyone was mesmerized, interesting - Captivating.)

3. A CD called Cafe Cubano - which should be really good hopefully!! Every song is a different Cuban artist or band, 13 songs. "A Flavorful blend of Latin sounds."
It's a 'Starbucks' sold Warner CD.

4. Bill Monroe (Greatest Hits) - It's got to be great!! It's the 'King of The Bluegrass'.

5. And Jerry Garcia Band - How Sweet It Is ...

All CDs are M-, nothing of any value, but all good music & titles.
Also got two each M- MT double cd cases, single CD width. Always need those!! That was actually 'the mission'. Just found the CDs in the process.

And a fantastic LIKE NEW black 'V' neck GAP T-shirt made with 'silky smooth' 100% cotton, $5. It's a favorite already. Very stylish.

Ooh Sir, I completely understand regarding hanging on to/storing all kinds of items and (in general) just having too much stuff!

Over many years, I have amassed waaay too many items including: Audio gear, vintage Cast Iron Skillets/Pots, I have close to two hundred vintage (mostly Gillette) Safety Razors-

Shaving Brushes-Shaving Mugs, Wool Blankets-Wool Clothing (I live in Maine). I've collected over one bottles of Fragrances/Colognes/Perfumes, Attar Oils, several vintage Chef

and Butchering Knives (French-American-German) as well as too many outdoor/Hunting type Knives/Axes/Hatchets, lots of Flashlights, custom Leather Belts, Art work, vintage

stove top Coffee Percolators, vintage (mostly) VICTOR Coffee Mugs, etc. etc. etc. Ooh, lol, and Cats (I have four Kitties). So yea, I get it!

Regarding CD's.....(I should of done this years ago).....I'm going to recommend finding the type of CD case that I found at the Thrift Shop. I plan to add all my existing Jazz CD's

into this case/carrier as it just takes up waaaaay less room and I'm finding it very easy to access. I'm sick of having CD (no joke) piled up everywhere (floor included) in those hard

plastic case in the area of my Audio gear. That being said, I DO use draws to store CD and it works pretty well however, I think the CD Album/Case is going to work much better.

I find it so convenient/easy to just flip a page and have eight CD disks/titles staring me in the Face for easy access. Give this a try mrhorst.

I understand and once considered eliminating the cases, but reading the "album art" and info within is where I find pleasure. Anyway, most of the CD's value is found in keeping the entire CD intact (CD, case and inner liner). So I currently keep most of my CDs in tubs until I find the proper drawers for them. Missed out on a large set of several CD cabinets with drawers at an estate sale a few years back, but the bidding war went much too high for my pockets. I did find a smaller set of 4 stackable cabinets which will hold a total of roughly 1000 CDs. 'Tis a fraction of what I currently own, wish I could find more of these!

Hi all,

Earlier this week, I visited my local Thrift Shop. I spent a lil' bit more than I usually spend on this day. Why ? What did I purchase ? Well I came across a HUGE collection of (CD's and DVD's) in one of those large soft zip carrier albums). I think some of the DVD's might be collectable being (for example) Japanese Anime D. Gray-man DVD's. There are also several pages of Japanese DVD TV Series. I did recognized Jet Li on one set of DVD's. I haven't yet had time to sort/research the DVD just yet.

At any rate, the reason my Guts told me, "Don't pass this up, BUY this collection" was, not only did this collection contain a total of 245 disks. There is a fair amount of Classic Rock CD's by Bands/Artist such as: The Rolling Stones, SRV, The Who, Elton John, Peter Gabriel, Heart, The Clash, Steve Miller, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, Dire Straits, U-2, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Skynyrd, Leonard Cohen, Etta James, Black Sabbath, etc.

However, THE best part of the story is, this collection has page after page after page of Classic Jazz CD's! The Classic Jazz CD's include:

Miles Davis, Cannon Ball Adderley, John Coltrane (about sixteen Coltrane CD's) Benny Carter, Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Stanley Turrentine, Joe Henderson, Stan Getz & Bill Evens,

Sonny Stitt, Wes Montgomery, Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, James Carter, Ben Webster, Keith Jarrett, etc.

Ooh, also included are some great Classical CD's: (Wagner and such). There is also and a bunch (too many) famous Female POP Singers CD's that I could care less about.

If memory serves, the total of Classic Jazz CD's alone is SIXTY EIGHT Classic Jazz CD's. Ummm, not too shabby a haul for fifty bucks me thinks! I've now have a LOT of listening to do!

I love "crate digging" & picking up 'great titled' M- CDs & LPs for a buck too!!

But I do miss not finding the LPs anymore. Every once in a while I do hit 'IT' at the right time and score a great titled M- LP for $1. But it's really rare nowadays.

CDs are fine too!! It's amazing - I have 29 M- CDs, including double albums, on my dining room table right now I haven't even heard yet. So Cool!! Cost $34 or something like that. Been that way for a couple years now.

It's like ~ every time a play a CD nowadays, it's a 'new to me album'. It's UNREAL really, Outrageous.

Thanks eiraved. The real ironic thing is (aside from price) my living in Maine.....it's beyond RARE to find ANY (pre owned/discounted) Classic Jazz CD. I mean, I've haunted the likes of Thrift Shops for over two decades and in all that time, I'd be lucky if I could count on one Hand my coming across Classic Jazz. I guess in this case, I've made up for lost time! Oh, good point on (perhaps) CD's being OOP. I haven't even had chance to check them out/research as of yet.

Another cool aspect is getting instant back catalogues. There's been a few for me. Beck, Ben Folds Five, Blur, Sufjan Stevens, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Powderfinger, Weezer. The original owners have saved me the trouble (and cost) of hunting down an artist's entire body of work.
