I am not posting the link, but these REALLY COOL Motorcycle/Automotive/Steampunk goggles were up for auction, and I just happened to win them :banana:

Evidently this guy, Johnathan Nightingale-Lait, makes some really cool highend Steampunk eye wear... I've seen some of his other stuff, and he sure is a hell of an artist..

I can't wait now to get the bike out this spring and start riding. I'm gonna be styling for sure with these!

I'm not one to normally buy stuff like this.. but they were just so damn cool looking and I'm always looking for something nice to wear at night when riding.. These should keep the eyes warm, and look too cool at the same time...

I've always had a thing for functional art, but never bought any before.. hhhmmm.. hope this doesn't become an addiction like audio...
 
You are going to need a scarf and a fur lined brown leather jacket to go with those. :yes:
 
I've been looking for a really nice leather flying cap, but any time Ive found a really nice one they were insanely expensive.. Got the scarf though :D
 
I''ve got a Yamaha Road Star...

Here's a picture, but it looks somewhat different not.. got a different pipe and seat on it now.. Also, I don't always have that sheepskin on it.. only for long rides.. we had been about 300 miles that day when I stopped and took that picture..

That is a nice looking bike. I bet it would beat the pants off of my Yamaha bike. :yes:
 
For being a basically stock bike, it gets up and scoots.. I have done a lot of work with the fuel system, intake, cleaner, heads and such, . made a couple changes with the electrical, and the pipe I have on it now is pretty wild and scavanges the engine fantastacally... I've got it pumping air through it pretty fast.. It will out run quite a few stock bikes that really surprised me it would..

My bike is stock except for the K&N air filter that is on it. Oh and the ventilated exhaust pipe :D. That does not do good things for the scavenging, especially with it being a two stroke. :no:
 
Funny you mention ventilated pipe. The one on mine uses what's called Forced Air Induction Collector (FAIC)...

Here's a like to a roadstar with one on it. My pipe is a little shorter than this one though. Mine ends just past the rear axle..

LOL.. looks more like a wolly mammoth to me.. but man does it sure make the butt feel a lot better after riding all day..
 
congrats on th' goggles too!

did you see the pair of steampunk-style welding goggles I had hanging off the steer heads at my place, by chance?


oh- and picked up some brass, copper, silver and gold leaf recently. wonder what hi-fi stuff I have I could "steam-punk"...
 
Yep.. I saw those.. they were pretty cool.. I've always liked goggles for some reason.. the looks that is...

hhhmm.. I bet you'll find too much stuff to leaf..

I wish that were the kind of ventilation that my bike had. I need to patch up mine, now if only I could weld things without turning them into swiss cheese. :scratch2:
 
Took me years to master filling in thin and rusted out metal.. Take a LOT of practive and lessons learned.
 
That is a sharp color.. seen a few of them...

They did build a great bike, but they under engineered a lot of it too...

The rear spring is too weak (replaced mine) they used really thin oil in the front shocks (replaced that too) The electirical won't carry much for add ons.. but that is upgradeable too for a fair chunk of change..

The clutches are weak, that's my next upgrade, and a few other things..

They really are a super bike,a killer bullet proof engine, but Yamaha could have made some areas heavier duty and more beefed up, and saved us roadie guys the hassle of having to beef up certian areas ourselves..

BTW.. a rare happening.. the seller already left me positive feedback for these goggles, before I ever got them. This is the second time in the last few weeks a seller has left me feedback before I even got the item.... that's pretty rare..

I should get you in touch with him. He is an audio geek like the rest of us but does not frequent here. He has rebuilt a lot on the bike and just got a Yamaha chrome front fork for it. All winter long he has been swapping stuff out and improving it. He wants me to buy one; I am holding out for one of these, lightyears and another galaxy away I know -
