I Love My New MS300!

The sound is homogeneous for the movies and the concert with DTS or DD sound, i choice this solution because i can't hook a HTM2D on the wall and i can't put down but i'm very happy of solution.

Thanks

I've bought a D-Link DWL-G810 Ethernet Bridge to try to connect to my Apple Airport Extreme but can't seem to even get it to recognize anything with mac and my skills in PC are limited.

Anyone any experience with Ethernet Bridge for the MS300 ?

I think I'm just going to have to run a "hard wire" to the MS300 which is a lot of work.

Any other ideas to connect WIFI Anybody ?

Victor,

Just curious (like the curious oysters). I ordered the MS300 and I don't particularly care for loud whirring older computers, but all my Satellite TV's are with my system in the main room and they all make a "little" noise.

When you say your ms300 makes noise, what is your tolerance level here. I've heard others say it doesn't make noise. How loud is this noise in your opinion.
To give you an idea of my tolerance for background noise in the listening room, did you see my earlier post where I said I turn off the fluorescent lights in the kitchen because I can hear them in the listening room? That gives you an idea of the crazyness I will go threw to lower noise in the listening room. :D

If your Satellite TV receivers have hard drives in them, I would say they are about as noisey as a MS300 (with the fan off). My MS300 makes about the same noise as my VCR does when it is playing a tape (the MS300 with its cooling fan on is noiser than the VCR playing a tape). I took some measurements of the noise my MS300 makes and here is the results (all measurements taken on the A-weighted scale).

Background noise in listening room: 31db
Noise 1 inch from MS300 (at side with standby switch by bottom): 42db
Noise 1 foot from MS300 (same spot as above): 35db
Noise 1 inch from MS300 with the cooling fan on: 49db
Noise 1 foot from MS300 with the cooling fan on: 40db

I'm here in Indy close to the repair center for the MS300, when I get time I will bring my MS300 to the repair center to compare it to other MS300s and see if this is normal noise. I think this is just normal noise for a MS300, keep in mind the MS300 is a computer and will make some noise. Either way my MS300 will eventually be moved out of my listening room.

One more update. After using the MS300 for 2 weeks, I still think it is the coolest audio toy ever! I have 52 CDs (488 tracks) on it and still have 788 hours of recording time left on it.

You definitely need RGPC's!

Well guess that answers my question

Low tolerance = I'll probably be OK :)

I live on a lake and there is never not any wind or waves or tress making probably more noice (pleasant though)

Got my MS300. Hooked it up to Internet upstairs where my router is and started ripping CDs. :thmbsp: Went to BestBuy to get a wireless setup for donwstairs, explained what I need to the salesperson and bought 3 different routers just in case. After spending 7 hours straight trying to make everything work I realized none of them will work they way I envisioned. Finally realizing that I need an Ethernet bridge not an access point or a wireless bridge like the dumb a$$ salesperson told me, by 1 am you should have seen my level of frustration. :gigglemad I haven't been pi$$ed off like that in a long time.

Going to try the Linksys WET54G (Ethernet Bridge) http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1134692497433&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=9743339789B02 Unless someone has other suggestions for a wireless setup.

If that doesn't work, I'll have someone come out to run ethernet cable to my listening room.

This is no reflection on the MS300, it's great so far. :thmbsp:

Ok, I am on my way to BestBuy to return the 3 routers and have a chat with the knowledgeable salesperson that helped me.....:bash:

Just my experience,
I bought Airlink and couldn't set it up and lost the receipt so I couldn't return it. Another box in the garage. :sigh:
Then I went to the Comp USA store and bought Linksys setup. That was a nightmare as it turned out to be DOA and I had to talk to the Pakistani lady for 2 hours after spending 6 hours getting nowhere with their POS directions. After all that I did get a real tech who diagnosed my DOA modem. They,Comp USA, took it back and gave my refund no problem.
I decided to try Netgear next. It seemed like it was too easy, not the nightmare
of software instructions to try to make it work with my OS (windows) like the other two, but there own program that pretty much did it all. :)

Yes I forgot, Congratulations!
Thanks guys!

Problem solved with the Linksys WGA54G. Took all but 2 minutes to set it up to play nice on the wireless network. :thmbsp: Reception strong and the network is 100% stable so far. :music:

Awesome!

Isn't it a slick toy? :music:

Nice! As soon as my wife discovered you can tune it to internet radio stations, my listening session was over. Music of the '80s is now pumping through the house. It's ok, I like the 80's too.

P.S> Got bit by my new Queen Trigger fish today! Ouch...
Awwww, that's so cute! She's giving you her little love bites. :smlove:

Would that be "radioio80sPOP"?

Victor

Radioio80's. The stations seem to be populating themselves by the hour. Does the MS300 constantly refresh or seek them out?

That is a good station. I wish they would display the song playing though. Is the sound of the radio stations better than you thought it would be? So far I have spent most of my time listening to the hard drive but I have been impressed with the sound quality of the radio.

I'm not sure how the MS300 populates the stations but I'm pretty sure if you unplug the unit it will repopulate. You can also add stations manually, but I have not tried to do this yet.

I still say the MS300 is the coolest audio toy ever.

Yes, I was hesitant to say that. Some may think I've lost my marbles or my hearing but yes, they do sound decent. Surprise. I would have never thought less than 192kbps stream would actually sound decent enough to listen to on a main system.

I know, before I got the MS300 I tried hooking up my laptop to the main system to hear some streaming radio and it sucked. The MS300 on the other hand makes the same streaming radio sound great. :music:

I like the "radioioAcoustic" station. They are playing Jack Johnson right now.

Not sure if it's the MS300 or the MDA working its upsampling magic on the digital stream? :scratch2: Like I've said, I've never heard such low bit rate music sound so damn good.
