I.T. Verdin Carillon--McIntosh

I just had thought about an unusual use for McIntosh amplifiers...in a electronic carillon. Some I.T. Verdin electronic carillon units used to simulate steeple bells use a McIntosh tube amp! There is a circuit that turns it on a little before the bell is to ring so the amp can warm up. One is still in use in Wray House at Ohio University. You might want to see if any churches, etc. had one of these old carillon units, there may be a McIntosh in it.

I found a MC2500 as part of a sonar unit for mapping the sea floor for the oil exploration industry. It had some strange military type connectors on the back, one of which was labeled "Tow Fish". It was operational and had all of the stock part numbers for output transformers, etc. so it was a keeper.

Rumor has it that one has to be a bit careful as some of the Mc amps were heavily customized/modified. McIntosh no longer does special orders anymore, but there is no reason why a second or third party couldn't.
