I think I fixed something...

This is my JVC KD-A5 that I brought back from Germany in 1980. At the time the Pioneer CT-F 900/950's were all the rage, but, I couldn't afford one. I have 4 of them now. I'm getting nowhere with the CT-F1000, and felt the need to fix something. Well, this old girl was giving me a lot of FF/REW problems, I tried cleaning everything to no avail. I found a rubber "tire" at work, and decided to rip into it and see if it would fit. A lot easier to work on than the Pioneers, and it fit like a glove with a little bigger O.D. All is well so far, just want to do some clean up of the boards and pots while I'm in there. I like this deck because it has both VU meters, and LED's for a good visual of what's going on. So ends my repair withdrawal for awhile. I'm happy!

Some times you just need something to fix... to get a fix... Or something like that. Good looking little JVC Strawman. I'm not familiar with this particular model, but it looks like JVC took some time in thinking it out. I've had quite a few hours spent in front of various JVC decks, and have found them quite satisfying.

I'm glad you were able to find success.

I kinda like the JVC KD-85. I just sold one for peanuts, cause I could not find service data. If I can find service data and a source for various expendables for it, I will add it to the models I will handle. They do sound sweet, and look really nice.

You are 100% correct Fotno, I fix computers & printers & stuff for a living. I go into withdrawal on a 3 day weekend. Pustelnaiker. I think the KD-85 is similar to A5. Pretty nice for a 2 head deck. I'm putting her back together right now, don't know what I'll do with it right away, but it's like a spare tire, you're glad to have one. :thmbsp:

All buttoned up. the only problem I see is tape counter rester button has disentegrated with time. I'm sure that's unobtainium. I'll deal with it. Shitty picture, someday, I'm going to learn to use the camera or photoshop, nah, just kidding. I think I'll put it in the HT crap setup upstairs and add a little class.
