I didn't realize that the CX's were the same. I already assumed it to be the case with the 80-85 series. When I looked at the manual for the cx-2000 I was a little surprised, as it's written for the cx-1000/ cx-2000. Is the build quality different? I ask because all my 2000 series gear would be best described as "Accuphase build quality". It is solid as can be and just feels "right" when you use any of the controls. I picked up some fantastic gear, showroom condition with all boxes and manuals. I still find myself using my VTL 2.5 tube pre most of the time, but the cx has so many more capabilities including optical! .

I don't think I have any bad caps. I've run it for a week now painstakingly comparing it to my Krell and Forte, which are both pure class a. The Yamaha holds it's own against the Krell, and I like it more than the Forte Model 4a. I haven't put out more than 50 watts yet as I'm driving a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls. But I'm happy to get any advice from some members who have owned this gear for a while.

There is probably nothing wrong with the "Great Supply's" I pulled out of mine. That is why I still have them. I went through and totally recapped my 2000 while I had it apart.

A little preventive maintenance goes a long way. I will bring my tech my tube pre to go through head to toe, and may have him give the Mx a look and tell me what he thinks. If I can part with it for a week that is. I like my Krell, but it's scary at times, drawing 6-7 amps at start up and then throwing off enough heat to heat the building in winter. The Forte just doesn't thrill me, something seems lacking. It might be best suited on the mids and highs of a bi-amp situation. I'd probably hook up the M-80 again over the other two options!
