I think I need a mechanic!

So I have been reliving my vintage Pioneer days lately and all was well. Found a minty Pioneer SX1050 locally followed by a minty pair of Pioneer HPM 100's. All was well until...I saw a SX1250 for sale locally and could not resist. Brought it home and hooked it up to the HPM's. Started with Hotel California Live low volume to start. Turned her up a bit and all of the sudden an ear peircing screech occured followed by an instant puff of smoke from each of the super tweeters. I shut her down and poored me a tall glass of wine. I am so bummed as I should have left very good alone with the SX1050. I know how to love this equipment however I am no mechanic. I live on the Northshore of Ma. Any reccomendations on where I can get it all looked over? Thanks

Yes an electician would be the appropriate term for the situation. A master for the silverfaced Pioneers is what I need!

DC offset would be where to look first. I would also suggest the use of a DBT (dim bulb tester). Sorry to hear about your HPMs.
