I thought I was down to the Klispch 600M II or the Elac debut3.0 DB 63

Maybe I waited to long, but at some point these 2 speakers were being discussed as competitors. Both in quality of sound and in Price.

Well nothing has changed is the last year or so except for the number of positive reviews of both these speakers. Elac has taken these compliments
like the true professionals they are but Klipsch, I should have guessed, has taken the compliments as a money grabbing opportunity.

The Elac Debut 3.0 DB63 still sell for $499 msrp. While the Klipsch now sell for $699!. $700 DOLLARS. That's right something has gone to Klipsch's head. I would have so respected Klipsch
if they had taken the hi praises and high volume of sales to the bank. But instead the got greedy and up'd the price by a whopping 40%. No doubt hurting volume but raking in on margin.
It is literally their business (not mine) and they are absolutely free to price as they see fit. But I wonder how many others will lose some respect for the integrity of Klipsch's business model. I used
to see Klipsch as a high integrity company, confident in their quality and pricing designs. Now there just another opportunistic company that sometimes gets lucky with a design then milks it for all they can get out of it...Bummer. DGMW, I love some of their designs and own some classic vintage stuff. But I am less proud to own and buy them as I used to be.

Well, it is time I grow my speaker world anyway. The Elacs, SVSs, Warfdales... and so many other companies are now on my list to review before Klipsch when looking for new speakers.

I have the 600MII and 8000FII but waited until they came up used. Both sets were in like new condition
330 for the 600
580 for the 8000
I agree with you on the price of new. I just can’t pay that.
 
Welcome to AK. I think what Klipsch is best regarded for is their vintage speakers. They were owned by a different company then.
 
Keep your eye out for a set of
Cerwin Vega VS 80. I did a A/B comparison with the 600M and was very surprised how well the CV’s sounded.
 
Someone here on Bartertown was selling a pair of Quad S-2 speakers a couple weeks ago for not a lot of money. I've heard both, and I think they absolutely trounce the Klipschs. Personally, I would go in that direction...

Wow! Great Price on the 600MII. As long as they are really MII and not the orignal 600Ms. Yup, I don't mind buying used. If it saves me $200 to $200 dollars, I'm all in!
In fact the big decisions then is used 600MII or new 600M (older version).

They’re definitely mkii. Just wait it out and a pair will eventually come your way. I actually got them for 265. The rest was tax and shipping
 
Klipsch runs sales frequently. At least they did when I was paying attention. Bet you will see the IIs offered on sale before year end.

The first version can be had for $350 now. I have a pair and they sound good to me.

Hm, I thought about what you said. Interstingly enough - it is not the $700 at all (as I saw some Wharfdale Dentos for $650 I may look at). I have and will continue to look at and buy gear that I think is worth the money. Sure there are limits based on my disposable income range, wife's mood and my sanitiy. But for intance, I might drop $1200 to $1400 on an integreated amp soon, etc. What Urk'd me was that Kilipsch designed a speaker and originally priced it where they thought it fit their line and they could make a profit. I think, only after they realized that people were giving it (maybe well deserved) praise did they decide to raise the price. Booo.
 
It looks like on that auction site, "New (other)" 600M II are listed typically between $400 and $450. Open box, A couple of the listing mentioned "B Stock".

US sellers. Unless there is something fishy going on, seems like an alright deal. I would not imagine any notable problems but that is just my opinion.

One seller offers them for $350 + $50 S&H but has no feedback so probably a scam.

A past La Scala owner and "Dope from Hope" reader, I've long had admiration for Klipsch and its products, and I'm a bit confused by your price comparisons. From the reviews I've read, the original RP-600M sold for $549 in 2019, and an RP-600M II review in 2023 said that the upgraded model was introduced at $649, so has gone up $50 since then to $699. Meanwhile, Elac's Debut 2.0 B6.2 was reviewed in 2020 priced at $350 while its upgraded Debut 3.0 DB63 sits at $499. Comparing the prices I could find from 5 or 6 years ago to today, the Klipsch has gone up about 27% while the Elac has gone up about 42%. If it's just based on pricing, I think you could still be proud to own Klipsch.
