I thought this was a no-no...

I just sent him an email

Hi, can I pick this up locally? Shipping seems high.

Thanks,
Carl

We'll see what happens.

I did that a little bit ago. I asked to use my FedEx acount and have them pick it up; I received this prompt reply:

The item must be shipped at the cost mentioned. No pick-up allowed.Total cost of $298.99 will include all related shipping costs.

So I think this whole thing is just a bit retarded. So I think I'll use the BIN option and then insist my shipper picks it up on my account. If he refuses then we can give eachother negative feedback.
I can see it know. The seller slaps a shipping label on the top of the receiver and says come get it between 6:00 and 6:10 on Tuesday.

Any seller who isn't flexible enough to arrange local pick-up for a valuable item just doesn't deserve to be selling on ebay IMHO.

This is going to interesting - the seller is going to say you violated his terms of sale, and you are going to say his terms of sale violated eBay's listing policy.

I hope you get the receiver out of this, KC, but I think it's going to be a big p***ing match, ending in a wash.

:lurk:

I hope i get them too. this may actually work out for me. ebay can get mad at sellers for renigging on a sale. And saying to ebay that I tryed to cheat you out of fees and such propably wont get him too far. I just hope it's not an Aker. 'Cause if it is, I'll probably get black listed or something.

We'll see i guess.

OK guys. I just mailed the guy $1.98 and two shipping lables. We'll see what happens.

He is going to be sooooo pissed.

You should have sent him $10.00 to cover a couple boxes ect.

I wonder what he would have done then. :scratch2:

Interesting... This guy has 300+ transactions and almost perfect feedback. He's been selling mostly vintage radio accessories and such, much of it still in the box. Apparently this is the first time he's tried this excessive shipping scam, must be completely fed up with ebay's fees.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Despite this stunt, the guy has a good ebay reputation and I suspect he'll do whatever it takes to avoid the negative. I suspect he'll compromise and you'll end up getting it for $50 or something. At least offer to pay for packing materials, you don't want him to be ticked off and just throw it in a box.

:thmbsp: What a great chain yanking!! :lmao: :lmao:

Keep us posted on what happens with this douchebag

i will take the 9090db of your hands if you don't like it after all this i will give you 1.99 (100 % profit) for it plus shipping ( i know your not gonna screw ME on shipping LOL)
