Early Sunday morning here and I just heard a horrible wail from the back yard so out I go to see what's up. There's my dog with next door's pet rabbit (a real big fat one) firmly jammed between her jaws and in its final death throes.
The first time a rabbit entered my yard I warned the neighbours that this would happen if it came in again and I was not there. I feel sorry for the bunny but what can be expected of a dog....dogs will be dogs etc.
She's a great dog and loves people and most other canines but never could abide cats, rabbits, possums or wallabies.

The proper thing to do would be to invite the neighbors over for stew, then maybe tell them what happened after dinner, or not.

When we had a Husky it ate the neighbors pet duck. He understand that it was what happens with animals. It came into my yard and she just did what nature intended.

Some dogs are like that, some aren't. I've known plenty of dogs that love to play with cats, not chew on them, for instance.

When she was 1 year old she caught a very young bunny and ate the WHOLE lot and the last thing I saw was an ear sticking out each side of her mouth then a final kerunch and it was gone...much like that picture. Actually she looks like that dog except for the dignified grey round the muzzle. She's now 8.

The tally afaik is a wallaby at about the same time, then a silly cat attacked her (seriously) last year and paid the price and then 11 weeks ago to this day she got another rabbit from next door. I'll save you working out what the 11 weeks means....Easter Sunday. All the mates reckoned it was the greatest Easter story yet.

One day she'll get me into strife.
