I turned a fine working SA-9500II into.....

A great sounding amplifier!!

I did a full recap, BHC for the main caps, and mostly Panasonic for the others.
I also replaced the pots for the bias current, and used Schottky's for the low power rectifier diodes, the big Schottky's for the power section are in backorder at Farnell.

This was my first full recap and was less work than expected, it would have been even easier when Pioneer would have used connectors between the boards.

Sound has improved in every area, it's much more transparant and musical with of course more highs and lows, the HPM-150's never sounded this good.

My main setup is: PL-570X, RT-707, TX-9500II, SA-9500II, CT-F1000, SG-9500, HPM-150

I have a ton of Pioneer gear I've collected over the years but the SA-9500 II is my daily work horse, I use it almost every day.

My daily setup includes: TX-9500 II, SA-9500 II, CT-F1000, CT-F1250, SG-9500, PLC-590, PL-570, PL-707 RT-1011L, SG-2, RG-2, U-24.

Your setup is really nice, wished main was setup and aranged that nice.

thanks for the compliments.

Next project will be a recap en realign one of my tuners, I'm going to 'practice' on a TX-7500, if all goes well I'll do the TX-9500II. I've got a Sound Technology 1000A and other stuff needed for the realign, and all kind of electronics experience, just haven't aligned a tuner before. I've attached a picture of my workbench on the other side of the attic.

Sweet! I have the SA-7500II and TX-6500II. Great sounding amp and tuner is really clear and picks up all sorts of stations for miles around. I was surprised by the amps ability to drive relatively inefficient speakers at a decent volume level without clipping or distorting. A great match speaker-wise to my 7500II is my HPM-500 Graphite units.
