I Upgraded My Son From His Sounbar

I had some pretty nice equipment sitting around not being used so I asked the boy if he'd like a stereo, and he immediately said yes without asking his wife for permission. LOL. I gave him the Allison Twos that were previously in my main system, a Citation 22, a Kenwood C1 and an Onkyo C-7030 along with some decent cables. He bought a Bluetooth streamer himself so he's good to go, and after our daughter in-law saw the speakers and heard the system she was completely on board.
They've busted their asses to get into a nice house and made it a beautiful home so I feel pretty good about where the gear went. More than anything else my son is absolutely thrilled to have the speakers that his grandfather cherished so much, and I'm happy that the gear is being enjoyed and isn't just sitting and gathering dust anymore.

While you live in a different world than I do (gearwise), I did something similar a couple years ago. My son had my old Bose Color bluetooth speaker that I'd had in an old pick-up for audio. I had a Marantz PM5005 and a spare pair of NHT SuperZero speakers in my library and I impulsively bought a PM6007 when it was being closed out. I offered the older integrated and the NHT speakers. He was using an iPad hooked up via bluetooth for streaming as he owns no physical media. I recently gifted him a WiiM Mini that I didn't like compared to the Pro Plus I have on a couple other systems so, now, he gets pretty good sound (he uses Spotify).

He didn't know he was getting anything until I asked him if he wanted a stereo, and he had to wait until his older sister gave the ok to give him the Allisons. She said that since I already gave her a system she'll just wait until I'm too old to enjoy the main system or dead to upgrade. I'm just glad they want to carry on listening to music the way it should be played, and the gear will live on after I'm gone. I know my dad would be thrilled that my daughter has his Onkyo A5, and that the boy has his speakers.
